Scientific Background Mifepristone is a progesterone receptor antagonist used as an abortifacient. It is also an antiglucocorticoid and an antiandrogen. Its relative binding affinity at the progesterone receptor is twice that of progesterone, its affinity at the glucocorticoid receptor is 3x that of dexamethasone, and more than 10 times that of cortisol (1).
