Scientific Background Piperlongumine is a novel compound that exhibits a potential inhibitory effect on washed rabbit platelet aggregation induced by collagen, arachidonic acid and platelet activating factor, without any inhibiting effect on that induced by thrombin (1). It has recently been found to kill cancer cells by blocking the response that dissipates high oxidative stress and the resulting reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated, meanwhile sparing normal cells (2).
