Scientific Background Spautin-1 inhibits the deubiquitination activity of USP10 and USP13, two ubiquitin-specific peptidases. This results in the degradation of class III PI3 kinase complexes. Because this group of kinases regulates autophagy, Spautin-1 in turn inhibits autophagy.
